TERMS & CONDITIONS

Welcome to The Core Collective.

These Terms & Conditions apply to all purchases made through our website and govern the sale of our jewellery products.

By placing an order with us, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

1. ABOUT OUR JEWELLERY

We specialise in jewellery designed for everyday wear, including pieces marketed as water-resistant, waterproof, sweat-resistant and/or tarnish-resistant, depending on the individual product.

Each product may differ in its materials, plating, finish and level of resistance.

Please read the individual product description before purchasing.

2. JEWELLERY MATERIALS

The material and finish of each item will be specified on the relevant product page where this information is available.

Depending on the product, jewellery may be made from or contain materials such as:

  • Stainless steel

  • 316L stainless steel

  • Gold plating

  • PVD gold plating

  • Silver plating

  • Gold-coloured alloy

  • Cubic zirconia

  • Other decorative materials

Customers should refer to the individual product listing for the specific material information applicable to their chosen item.

3. WHAT DOES "WATERPROOF" MEAN?

Where a product is advertised as waterproof, this means that the jewellery has been designed and/or tested to withstand normal exposure to water under the conditions stated in the product description.

However, no jewellery should be considered completely immune to wear, fading, discolouration or damage under all conditions.

The lifespan and appearance of jewellery can vary depending on:

  • Frequency of wear

  • Individual skin chemistry

  • Sweat and perspiration

  • Water exposure

  • Chlorinated swimming pools

  • Salt water

  • Perfume

  • Lotions and creams

  • Cosmetics

  • Cleaning products

  • Chemicals

  • Friction

  • Scratching

  • Storage conditions

"Waterproof" does not mean that the jewellery is indestructible or guaranteed to remain in its original condition indefinitely.

4. WATER AND EVERYDAY WEAR

Our jewellery is designed with everyday wear in mind.

However, to maximise the lifespan of your jewellery, we recommend avoiding unnecessary or prolonged exposure to:

  • Swimming pools

  • Hot tubs

  • Sea water

  • Chlorinated water

  • Salt water

  • Strong cleaning chemicals

  • Perfume

  • Hairspray

  • Body lotions

  • Self-tanning products

  • Household chemicals

Where a product is specifically described as suitable for exposure to these conditions, the product description will take precedence.

5. SWEAT AND EXERCISE

Jewellery advertised as sweat-resistant may be worn during normal exercise and everyday activities.

However, prolonged exposure to sweat can affect jewellery over time.

After exercising, we recommend gently wiping your jewellery with a clean, soft and dry cloth.

6. TARNISHING AND DISCOLOURATION

Although some of our jewellery is designed to be tarnish-resistant, tarnish resistance does not mean that tarnishing can never occur.

Tarnishing or discolouration may occur as a result of exposure to:

  • Body oils

  • Sweat

  • Perfume

  • Cosmetics

  • Chemicals

  • Salt water

  • Chlorine

  • Moisture

  • Individual skin chemistry

The rate at which jewellery changes in appearance can differ significantly from person to person.

Minor changes in colour or finish caused by normal wear and environmental exposure are not necessarily considered a manufacturing defect.

7. GOLD PLATING AND FINISHES

Gold-plated and PVD-finished jewellery may experience changes in colour or finish over time.

The durability of the finish depends on the type of coating, frequency of wear and exposure to external factors.

PVD or other durable finishes may provide greater resistance than traditional plating, but they are not guaranteed to remain unchanged indefinitely.

8. JEWELLERY CARE

To keep your jewellery looking its best:

DO:

✔ Store jewellery in a dry place when not being worn.

✔ Keep pieces separated to minimise scratching and tangling.

✔ Wipe jewellery gently with a soft, dry cloth.

✔ Remove jewellery before applying perfume, lotion or cosmetics.

✔ Store jewellery away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity.

AVOID:

✘ Harsh chemicals

✘ Household cleaning products

✘ Chlorine

✘ Excessive exposure to salt water

✘ Perfume directly on jewellery

✘ Hairspray directly on jewellery

✘ Abrasive cleaning materials

✘ Sleeping with delicate pieces where this may cause unnecessary stress or tangling

9. SKIN SENSITIVITY AND ALLERGIES

We provide material information for our products where available.

Customers with known metal sensitivities or allergies are responsible for reviewing the material information before purchasing.

Even jewellery marketed as hypoallergenic may cause a reaction in some individuals.

If irritation, redness, itching, swelling or discomfort occurs, discontinue wearing the jewellery.

If symptoms persist or are severe, seek appropriate medical advice.

We cannot guarantee that a particular product will be suitable for every individual's skin.

10. PRODUCT APPEARANCE

Product photographs are provided to represent the jewellery as accurately as reasonably possible.

Actual colour may vary slightly depending on:

  • Your device

  • Screen brightness

  • Display settings

  • Lighting conditions

  • Photography conditions

Minor variations in colour, texture or finish do not necessarily constitute a defect.

11. JEWELLERY SIZING

Customers are responsible for checking the measurements and sizing information provided on each product page before ordering.

Where applicable, sizing information may include:

  • Necklace length

  • Bracelet length

  • Pendant size

  • Ring size

  • Earring dimensions

If you are unsure about sizing, please contact us before placing your order.

12. ORDERS

Once an order has been successfully placed and payment has been received, we will begin processing the order.

We reserve the right to cancel an order where:

  • The item is unavailable;

  • There is an obvious pricing or listing error;

  • Payment cannot be verified;

  • Fraudulent or suspicious activity is suspected.

If we cancel an order after payment has been received, an appropriate refund will be processed in accordance with applicable law.

13. SHIPPING AND DELIVERY

We ship orders to addresses within South Africa unless otherwise stated.

Delivery times vary depending on the product and delivery method selected.

The estimated delivery period displayed on the product page or at checkout should be considered before purchasing.

Q4 / CHRISTMAS ORDERS

Customers purchasing jewellery as a Christmas gift should place their orders sufficiently in advance.

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address.

Please ensure that your:

  • Full name

  • Street address

  • Suburb

  • City

are correct when placing your order.

We cannot be held responsible for delays or additional delivery costs resulting from an incorrect or incomplete address supplied by the customer.

15. TRACKING

Where tracking is available, tracking information will be provided once available.

Tracking information may take some time to update after an order has been dispatched.

16. RETURNS

Returns will be handled in accordance with applicable South African consumer legislation, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) where applicable.

Where a customer has a legal right to return a product, we will honour that right in accordance with applicable legislation.

17. CHANGE-OF-MIND RETURNS

Where applicable under South African consumer law, customers may exercise their rights regarding a change-of-mind return.

Because jewellery is a personal-use product, certain return conditions may apply.

Returned jewellery must meet the applicable legal and product conditions for the relevant return.

Jewellery that has been worn, damaged, altered or modified may be subject to applicable return limitations where permitted by law.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions removes or restricts a consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.

18. HYGIENE

For hygiene reasons, customers should not wear jewellery before deciding whether they wish to keep it if they intend to rely on an applicable change-of-mind return right.

Earrings and other jewellery that comes into direct contact with the body may be subject to additional hygiene-related return requirements where permitted by law.

19. DAMAGED OR DEFECTIVE JEWELLERY

If your jewellery arrives damaged or you believe that it has a manufacturing defect, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

Please provide:

  • Your order number

  • Your name

  • A description of the issue

  • Clear photographs of the jewellery

  • Photographs of the packaging where relevant

Please do not attempt to repair, alter, resize or modify the item before contacting us.

We will assess the issue and provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable South African consumer law.

20. NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR

Jewellery is a wearable product and may naturally experience signs of use over time.

The following may constitute normal wear depending on the circumstances:

  • Minor scratches

  • Surface marks

  • Gradual fading

  • Changes to plating

  • General signs of use

  • Damage caused by impact or snagging

Normal wear and tear is not necessarily considered a manufacturing defect.

21. LOST OR DAMAGED JEWELLERY AFTER DELIVERY

Once an order has been successfully delivered to the address provided by the customer, the customer is responsible for the safe keeping and care of the jewellery.

We cannot accept responsibility for jewellery that is subsequently:

  • Lost

  • Misplaced

  • Stolen

  • Accidentally damaged

  • Caught or pulled

  • Broken through misuse

  • Damaged through improper care

Where a product is defective, the provisions relating to defective goods remain applicable.

22. BROKEN CHAINS, CLASPS AND CHARMS

Jewellery components such as chains, clasps, jump rings and charms can be damaged through pulling, snagging, impact or excessive force.

Customers should take care when putting on, removing and wearing jewellery.

If a component breaks shortly after purchase and you believe the item may have had a manufacturing defect, please contact us with photographs so that we can assess the issue.

23. PRODUCT AVAILABILITY

Our jewellery is subject to availability.

If an item becomes unavailable after an order has been placed, we will contact you regarding an appropriate solution, which may include an alternative product or refund.

24. PROMOTIONS AND BUNDLES

Promotional offers, discounts and jewellery bundles may be subject to specific terms stated at the time of the promotion.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Discounts cannot be exchanged for cash;

  • Promotional codes may have expiry dates;

  • Promotions may be subject to product availability;

  • Multiple promotions may not be combined.

25. GIFT ORDERS

Customers purchasing jewellery as gifts are responsible for providing the correct delivery address and recipient information.

We recommend ordering well in advance of birthdays, Christmas and other special occasions.

We cannot guarantee delivery by a particular event unless a guaranteed delivery service has specifically been offered and purchased.
